The Unexamined Life, Poems by Jerry Roscoe
Jerry
Roscoe's dry wit and fluid lines ensure that his book's title, The
Unexamined Life, in fact belies the work these poems do: they leave
no aspect of life unexamined.
"Jerry Roscoe's poems are very readable and very tonic. He's a minimalist storyteller who has stripped away the extraneous ornament and faux mysticism--the bullshit--in which many poets still revel."--Ed Ochester, Editor, Pitt Poetry Series
"Roscoe's voice keeps coming at you--in a bar, say in Buffalo, or maybe Columbus--like that of some contemporary Ancient Mariner: self-effacing, slightly skeptical, bemused. How can you not trust him, not believe that these stores he tells are your own stories, even though you are remembering these particular details for the very first time?"--Wayne Dodd
